Rochester, NY- Seth Faergolzia, one of anti-folk’s most fearless singer-songwriters, will hit the road this Winter with a new album from his latest project, Multibird. This special quartet tour will have performances in the Netherlands, Germany, France, Austria, Belgium and Switzerland.

Formed in 2015, critics have hailed Multibird’s sound as “tender and calm” (New York Press) and “twisted and distorted” (Relix). Where Faergolzia’s critically-acclaimed avant-rock outfit, Dufus, shook up New York City in the ‘00s with folk-punk gymnastics and Captain Beefheart-esque abrasion, Multibird creates the communal amiability of a warm gathering around the hearth.

A Multibird show can lead almost anywhere, from raucous foot-stompers to songs soft, heartwarming and careful, to an a cappella quartet, all the while anchored by Faergolzia’s enigmatic voice and captivating presence. Outré as the four-piece may get, fans of Mumford and Sons will still feel right at home.

The Multibird quartet consists of Seth Faergolzia (acoustic guitar, loops and vocals), Shaun Jones (electric guitar, vocals, and percussion), Emily DiPaola (trumpet, drums, vocals) and Luke Cornwell (bass, drums, vocals). These versatile and powerful musicians bring a huge sound despite the small ensemble.

Faergolzia has played stages in over 20 countries touring for over 20 years and has made appearances at the End of the Road Festival, Greenman, Rockaway Beach, Zappanale, Hunsrück Open Air, Haus der Kulturen der Welt, Burning Woman, One of a Million Festival, Out in the Kraut, Fringe Festival, etc. In addition, Faergolzia’s projects have played support for such acts as Animal Collective, the Yeahyeahyeahs, Kool Keith, Dan Deacon, Jeffrey Lewis, Moldy Peaches, Langhorne Slim, Frank Turner and loads more.

Please get in touch at for guest passes, interviews and for more information.

Tour updates will be announced on the band’s website, along with music videos and excerpts from Faergolzia’s upcoming puppet opera movie.

• Live Looping
• Loop Painting
• Soft Songs
• Fresh Cuts written this past year
• Music from his earlier repertoire
• On some special occasions he will even take the time to write and record a brand new song with willing audiences.

Painting? While singing? Singing while painting? Seth brings the vastness of his life’s work seamlessly and effortlessly to the stage, creating an experience for those who are “here for it”. Seth is an artist’s artist. Building a community that huddles together against the storms of modern life and mentoring other artists along the way, Seth brings a verbose and verdant body of work in 2018 that includes new work from his live vocal loop painting series and “Seth Sings Soft Songs” series. Fans can expect old favorites as well as new tunes and that characteristic Seth experience that is at once childlike fun and deeply moving.

Seth plays acoustic guitar and loop station. From California, multi-instrumentalist and vocalist, John Ludington from Absynth Quintet, a critically acclaimed gypsy-grass band, “…the lovechild of Beck and Frank Zappa…” Seth and John toured Europe in 2013 with their collaborative project, Forest Creature. Shaun Jones from Heck Yup, will be gently shredding electric guitar. Laura Lee Jones wearing an old washboard will tinker with auxiliary percussion & provide voice and theremin melodies. Beat professor, drummer extraordinaire, Dominic Marini is on his maiden voyage with Faergolzia.

The freak-folk group will be performing a full and varied cross-section of the peerless oddball music that has delighted and baffled audiences, collaborators, and critics alike for over a decade. Faergolzia will continue to shake musical conventions, making moments honest and organic in their exploration of possibility.

Ever since his days as the mastermind behind critically-acclaimed avant-boho outfit Dufus, Seth Faergolzia has blazed colorful trails into modes of expression one couldn’t have foreseen even as Dufus were being hailed as “freak folk” innovators.

When Faergolzia first emerged out of lower Manhattan at the turn of the millennium, he cut quite the figure as a trailblazing artist committed to pursuing his vision on the fringe of the fringes, quickly distinguishing himself as a visionary with an entertainer’s flair and
a penchant for bending minds. Naturally, the surface absurdism of his output drew comparisons to likeminded iconoclasts like Captain Beefheart, Zappa, Ween, and Mr. Bungle. But, Faergolzia has come to represent a genre unto himself, the labyrinthine pathways of his inspiration delighting audiences and collaborators alike.

In his new live show, taking the stage as a one-man tornado of sound, Faergolzia draws from new material, electronic samples, loops, improvisations, and choice selections from the Dufus vault — a full and varied cross-section of the matchless oddball muse that has delighted audiences, collaborators, and critics alike for over a decade.

23 Psaegz East Coast US Tour

July 22nd, 2013

band selfie

Following in the footsteps of his critically-acclaimed avant-freakout band Dufus — whose landmark 2003 ROIR album 1:3:1 was hailed by AllMusic’s Jesse Jarnow as “the kind of record that could potentially change a listener’s life” — Seth Faergolzia once again makes a delightful mess of musical boundaries with his latest group 23 Psaegz. Initially conceived as a kind of live-action orchestra for Faergolzia’s puppet rock opera, the 23 Psaegz (pronounced SAY-jezz, as in: plural of “sage”) have evolved into the main vehicle for Faergolzia’s continued explorations into mind-bending musical realms unprecedented even by outsider art and freak folk standards.

Like Dufus, the 23 Psaegz consist of a revolving cast of musicians that at any given time can include up to 18 musicians sharing the stage. But where Dufus often reveled in funk-rock gymnastics and Captain Beefheart-inspired abrasion, the 23 Psaegz create the communal amiability of a warm gathering around the hearth of Faergolzia’s musical vision. The music itself is unapologetically (even audaciously) off-kilter and curiously sculpted, and the rest of the band brings a sense of joy to match. Imagine a kaleidoscopic New Orleans marching band crossed with an outer space production of “Peter & the Wolf” and you’ll be somewhere in the ballpark. Glockenspiel, flute, tuba, keytar, cello, banjo, saxophone, and salvaged metal percussion collide with bass, a haphazard collection of drums, guitar, toy piano, and group vocal harmonies in multi-colored bursts — not unlike 20 cans of silly string all exploding at once. Meanwhile Faergolzia’s acrobatic voice, captivating presence, and inimitable song structures anchor his enthusiastic crew of bandmates.

23 Psaegz are hitting the road August 2013 to weave a musical loop around the East coast. They’re also in progress recording an ambitious rock opera project long in the making, snippets of which will be performed on their forthcoming tour:
